Book Sixteen! Who would have predicted it? Fans of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series will be thrilled to know their favorite anti-hero is back again。 This time he's on the basketball court, as the result of his mother's urging and his failure at other team sports。 As it turns out, his mom has ulterior motives, and like so many other parents, she intends to relive her glory days on the court through Greg's experience。 But Greg is bad, really bad, at basketball, and he doesn't make either of the tea Book Sixteen! Samaira,
Author great book in the series。 What can I say
Alaina,
Not the best entry in the series, but not the worst。 I definitely appreciate Greg's lack of athletic ability。 I do think Greg was toned down quite a bit from his usual jerk self, which is probably why I didn't find this one as humorous as some of the other books。 I think this version of him would be more acceptable to parents, but, as an adult who enjoys this series, I much prefer jerk Greg。 Not the best entry in the series, but not the worst。 I definitely appreciate Greg's lack of athletic ability。 I do think Greg was toned down quite a bit from his usual jerk self, which is probably why I didn't find this one as humorous as some of the other books。 I think this version of him would be more acceptable to parents, but, as an adult who enjoys this series, I much prefer jerk Greg。 。。。more

The only reason I read it was I met the author and found him to be a wonderful human being, signing books, taking pictures, and even volunteering to record a video for my students。 I won't go back and read all the others, but this tale of Greg was completely delightful and entertaining。 I'm glad to be a real-life fan。 The only reason I read it was I met the author and found him to be a wonderful human being, signing books, taking pictures, and even volunteering to record a video for my students。 I won't go back and read all the others, but this tale of Greg was completely delightful and entertaining。 I'm glad to be a real-life fan。 。。。more

Greg joins a sports team at school at his mother's request and it turns his life upside down。 I believe this is the first book I've read where I don't recall Rowley being mentioned。 This is one of the better books I've read in the entire series。 Greg joins a sports team at school at his mother's request and it turns his life upside down。 I believe this is the first book I've read where I don't recall Rowley being mentioned。 This is one of the better books I've read in the entire series。 。。。more

It's November, which means the annual dropping of a new Wimpy Kid book! The same characters you know and love-some of these books are funnier than others。 This one was very funny。 Greg's mom encourages/forces him to pick a sport。 Greg once made a cool shot across the lunchroom, so he picks basketball。 Hilarity ensues。 It's November, which means the annual dropping of a new Wimpy Kid book! Shacoria,
This was a great addition to the series。 Greg is still his same hilarious and self-absorbed self。 If the formula works, I guess there is no reason to change it。 It would have been great to see more of the secondary characters in this book and not just mom though。 Other than that, it was great。 I actually liked the storyline a lot because it really showed the reader what a wimp Greg is。
Bec,

Another great entry in the Diary Of A Wimpy Kid series; while there is sadly a noticeable lack of Manny, the hero of his brother's previous story, Gerg made up for it by starting to grow up and become a man。 Big Shot is a parody of your typical underdog story, Team of losers becomes the champions yada yada, But Greg is an unequivocal Loser, him and his team, but at least he's trying。 At least he's willing to bend the knee to his mom and try, for her sake。 And, eventually, Gerg wins, he's not a w Another great entry in the Diary Of A Wimpy Kid series; while there is sadly a noticeable lack of Manny, the hero of his brother's previous story, Gerg made up for it by starting to grow up and become a man。 Big Shot is a parody of your typical underdog story, Team of losers becomes the champions yada yada, But Greg is an unequivocal Loser, him and his team, but at least he's trying。 At least he's willing to bend the knee to his mom and try, for her sake。 And, eventually, Gerg wins, he's not a winner, but he's not the worst loser, which feels like a lesson he's been needing to learn。 I have hope that this will help launch Greg into finally leaving behind his selfish middle school phase, and start developing into someone who can look at himself in the mirror and smile。You go, Greg。 。。。more

FroggyTheFrog,
Incredibly dissapointing。 Look I get this book was written for kids- but for someone who's still reading the series out of nostalgia。。。 Not great at all。 It wasn't entertaining, I got bored halfway through, the only decent plot was rushed or thrown out of the window。Didn't we already go through Greg's hate for sports in a previous book? Why are we doing it again, and just doing it WORSE。Anyhow I'd urge you all to skip this one。 Incredibly dissapointing。 Look I get this book was written for kids- but for someone who's still reading the series out of nostalgia。。。 Not great at all。 It wasn't entertaining, I got bored halfway through, the only decent plot was rushed or thrown out of the window。Didn't we already go through Greg's hate for sports in a previous book? Jonathan,
As someone who played basketball all throughout school, I thought this one might bring me a tad more enjoyment than all the rest。 There were for sure some things that were spot on, and a few smirks here and there, but overall just another DWK book that does the job of getting kids reading, but doesn't add much more to their life than a Saturday morning cartoon would (sidenote: are Saturday morning cartoons even a thing anymore?) The book has fine nostalgic value, and a few parts made me chuckle。 But the story was uninteresting, hardly anything was done with the characters。

Finally, 2 and a half weeks later and I found it on my desk, waiting patiently for me to read it。 I soared through the pages, appreciating the detailed artwork all the way, surprisingly more than the story this time round。 The mother did make some decent points and actually gave some sound advice for a change but I hate how she betrayed her son towards the end and lost all hope for him specifically。 I'm glad he did what happened coincidentally。 I am curious to see what happened to their house an Finally, 2 and a half weeks later and I found it on my desk, waiting patiently for me to read it。 I soared through the pages, appreciating the detailed artwork all the way, surprisingly more than the story this time round。 The mother did make some decent points and actually gave some sound advice for a change but I hate how she betrayed her son towards the end and lost all hope for him specifically。 I'm glad he did what happened coincidentally。 I am curious to see what happened to their house and wished to hear more about Rodrick as he's not mentioned much if at all in this volume。。。Definitely a breath of fresh air after the previous books which seemed as though Kinney was running out of ideas。 This is a volume where Greg is pressured into participating in basketball which he ultimately sucks at though occasionally throwing the lucky shot。 I especially enjoyed it because it's well paced and Greg manages to get some revenge on his awful mother towards the end。 It is hilarious how a team can be so bad even when they train 3 times a week and play on weekends。 It is clear that nobody is putting in any effort and Greg is certainly not taking all this seriously but then again, he never does really commit to anything。 There were some characters I didn't much miss such as Ruby Bird who made an appearance。 It is unfortunate that the star player had to be dismissed from the team due to a serious injury。I've read from Greg's perspective, Rowley's perspective and now wish to see a story from my favourite character's perspective, Rodrick。 。。。more
